All the news that's fit to print

Some research people in some country discovered a bacteria that engages in a symbiotic relationship with insects that only has 182 genes, lower than the previously estimated minimum number of genes (200) required to support life. Isn't that just magnificent?

and now a moment of silence...

for MARAT. Jean-Paul Marat, the radical Jacobist during the French Revolution who died the way that he lived: in a bathtub.

an attempt to keep this updated

you see! this is why I don't post too often. I've been staring at this stupid box for five minutes but there isn't that much in the terms of important news right now.

The most interesting thing that happened today was that some jackass screwed up my bumper in the mall parking lot. They didn't leave a note, no insurance information, just a whole bunch of their crappy blue paint.

You know, I don't care if I get money - my car's battered all to hell anyway, but the least they could do is leave a note of apology. I mean really - its a matter of common courtesy. Otherwise what it says to me is that they didn't feel the least bit bad that they screwed up my bumper. They were just like "oh well, tough s*** buddy."

Seriously. Just a note that says "sorry bout that." It's not like I'm going to turn the note over to the FBI for handwriting analysis so they can match it up to some master handwriting data base harvested from high school "permanent records."

This is my record frequency post. Yee haw.
