Important News Bulletin

this morning upon arriving at work, the existence of a magnificent species of animal life was brought to my attention: The Naked Mole Rat. These wonderous creatures are the only mammals that live in colonies governed by a queen like bees and ants. Their warren denizens are differentiated into several groups of job classes: workers keep the tunnels clean, etc. Most importantly, there is a "warmer" class whose sole purpose is to keep the Queen Naked Mole Rat warm.

A further curiousity of this species involves the queen: the queen is not born a queen like ant and bee queens. Instead, the queen wins the position by combat challenge. Once victorious, the new queen rapidly gains weight and muscle mass. Like a power up after a boss battle. Furthermore, the queen does not get so large that she loses mobility; she can still navigate the tunnels of her den. What I wonder is how the new Queen's body knows that it is queen and what spurs the physiological changes.

I felt the need to announce this important discovery I have made to the world. Do with this knowledge as you will.

Small fish with big teeth

I was eating some pudding today and starting thinking about what would happen if pudding committed suicide. Would the flavor be affected? Would we even know? Would pudding family come and visit in the fridge unbenownst to us betwixt the hours of one and three am? Are pudding eulogies delivered in old timey English? Like: "Here be thou rested thine bowl of trembling pudding of the clouds. Let forth now thine song of mourning for beneath the row of pudding grass grows methink a tender skin?" Or would the puddings just swear a bunch and smoke a bunch of cigarettes? Maybe kick the celery in the ribs when no one else is looking?
